A dark-red skull with a fizzy sour coat and a pomegranate-cherry chew underneath — the veggie skull from Matthijs.
Matthijs makes the skulls that Swedish pick-and-mix walls are built around, and this is the plant-based one: a soft starch-based gummy, no gelatine, moulded as a skull and rolled in fine sour sugar. The flavour is pomegranate and cherry — deep, fruity and a little tart — with the sour coating giving a proper first-bite tingle before the sweet chew takes over. The colour comes from black carrot rather than artificial dyes, which is why it sits somewhere between wine red and purple in the bag.
